While We Still Have Time Children for the Children of Haiti
|
Stellar nominated group, The Velazquez Family Singers (VFS), recorded a song to raise
money for the Haitian relief efforts, especially those emphasizing the welfare of children.
This idea came from the family's trip to the 25th Annual Stellar Awards in Nashville where
Kirk Franklin called for artists to take part in his special recording of "Are You Listening - A
Love Song for Haiti." His session included gospel superstars like Yolanda Adams, Donnie
McClurkin, The Clark Sisters, Mary Mary and many more including VFS. However once
home, the VFS children felt a need to do more. So they asked dad to call a few friends.
9 Lives Studio owner/producer Nicola Stemmer and renown gospel drummer Jeff Davis
were the first to respond and in turn, made a few phone calls of their own. Next, jazz great
Alex Bugnon (piano), Michael Jackson producer Benard Belle (bass), and gifted guitarist
Ken Sebesky were in the studio with the guys donating their time and talents to help the
cause. Other musicians later joined the team via the Internet: horn player Vincent Henry
(Amy Winehouse's musical director), renown organist Paul Gordon, and percussionist
supreme Randy Crafton. Lastly, local gospel singers (see below) came to the studio to
contributed their gifts to remake the 1979 classic "While We Still Have Time" originally
recorded by Cindy and Roy. The project was conceived on Tuesday and completed by that
Sunday.
Now we need your help. Please download the song and pass this link to everyone you
know. We may not raise as much money as Kirk or We Are The World 25, but the dollars
we do raise may stop one family from starving. Let's help the children and rest of the
people of Haiti.
God Bless!
